About this service

Invisalign is a series of clear, custom-fit aligners that gradually shift your teeth into better position. They are removable for eating and brushing, comfortable to wear, and far less noticeable than metal brackets. Most cases also involve small tooth-colored attachments bonded to some teeth so the aligners can grip and move them predictably, and some cases need a small amount of enamel reshaping between crowded teeth to create space. Both are part of ordinary aligner treatment, and we walk you through exactly what your case needs before you commit. Invisalign at our office is provided by Dr. Younesi, a general dentist, as part of our orthodontic dentistry services. Whether aligners are right for you is decided case by case, and when a case is better served by an orthodontic specialist, we will tell you and help with a referral.

    Most cases need small tooth-colored attachments bonded to a few teeth so the aligners can grip them, and some need a small amount of enamel reshaping between teeth. We tell you what your case requires in advance.

    Aligner Wear

    You’ll wear each set 20-22 hours daily, swapping to the next every one to two weeks.

    Retention

    After your active treatment, custom retainers hold the result in place.

How long does Invisalign take?
Most cases finish in 6 to 18 months. Mild crowding or minor relapse can complete in as little as three months; complex cases may run two years.
Does Invisalign work as well as braces?
For many cases, yes, and the finished result can be excellent. To be straight with you, though: reviews of the research still give fixed braces the edge on overall bite outcome, and aligners are less predictable when a tooth needs to be pulled down into position, when a round-rooted tooth needs to be rotated, when the bite needs significant front-to-back correction, or when the arch needs a lot of expansion. Severe skeletal discrepancies still call for traditional orthodontics or a specialist. Dr. Younesi will tell you honestly which option will give you the best result.
Who is Invisalign right for?
It is decided case by case. We look at the kind of tooth movement you need, the health of your teeth and gums, and whether you can wear aligners the 20 to 22 hours a day they require. If your case would be better served by traditional braces or an orthodontic specialist, we will tell you and help you with a referral.
Will anything be attached to my teeth?
Usually, yes. Most cases use small tooth-colored composite attachments bonded to select teeth, which give the aligners something to push against. They are removed at the end of treatment. Some cases also need interproximal reduction, a very small amount of enamel polished between crowded teeth to make room. Both make the aligners slightly more visible up close, and we would rather you hear that from us before you start than notice it afterward.
